Documenting, Remembering and Empowering Preserving the story of AIDS

The World AIDS Museum and Educational Center, located in Wilton Manors, has been diligently educating Broward middle and high school students on HIV prevention and community-wide efforts to reduce HIV -related stigma while increasing awareness of the ongoing epidemic in South Florida. The Museum has hosted multiple exhibits, monthly film screenings, produced the documentary Saving Grace: Confronting HIV/AIDS in the Black Community, and a monthly community dialogue series. The education program of the Museum has presented at all CDC-identified high-risk schools as well as at alternative schools and local colleges and has educated over 6,500 students. The next five-year plan includes exciting programming:

  • Innovative new exhibits from a cross section of our community like Pediatric HIV/AIDS, Medications Then and Now,
  • Digitalization of the Chronology of AIDS, the Museum's original HIV and pop culture timeline
  • Adding a new mobile exhibit
  • Exciting collaborations with other area museums
  • Expansion of the Education program in Broward County and into Palm Beach County
  • Creation of new documentaries
  • Expanding our stories of people living with HIV with a Video booth in the Museum
